It’s happened to all of us at some point: you’ve got tickets to an event you’re beyond excited about, you’re gearing up for the best time ever, and then BAM – something comes up and you can’t go.

You’re devastated. Distressed. Down in the dumps. It’s the worst, but it’s not the end of the world. There will always be other concerts, shows, and games, and for many events you can recoup the cost of the tickets by selling them from your Ticketmaster account.

Yes, you heard us right. If you purchased tickets to an event you can no longer attend, you can simply sell them to another fan right from your Ticketmaster account. It doesn’t cost you anything to sell and it’s 100% safe for both you and the lucky buyer – meaning you get paid and they get in to the event with Ticketmaster Verified Tickets.

1. Look for the Sell button on your ticket order.

Once you’ve located the Sell button, click it to get started (no Sell button means no selling for that event or ticket type).

2. Select which ticket(s) you want to sell.

You can sell all your tickets, or just some of them. For example, if you bought four tickets with a double date in mind and the other couple canceled, you can keep your two tickets and sell the extra pair. Got it?

3. Set your price.

They’re your tickets and you can set any price you see fit. No matter what price you pick, there are no fees to sell tickets. Sweet!

4. Tell us where to send your payment.

Enter your debit card or checking account info for hassle-free cha-ching when tickets sell. You’ll get paid by direct deposit and you can expect the funds in your account within 7-10 business days after your tickets sell.

5. Review your listing, sit back, and relax.

You’ll be notified by email when the tickets sell, and you can edit or remove your listing at any time if you change your mind – or can suddenly make it to the event!

How to Pick Up Tickets You Bought Online or Over the Phone
If you want to be able to pick up tickets at a Ticketmaster retail outlet, be sure to choose Retail Outlet Pickup when you’re on the delivery page during checkout if you’re buying online or when talking to the Fan Support specialist if you’re buying over the phone.

Then simply bring the credit card you used to buy your tickets along with a photo ID and your order number to the outlet. They’ll swipe your card to find your order and print your tickets. Then you’re good to go.

• If you chose Retail Outlet Pickup and it’s the day of the event but you haven’t picked up your tickets yet, just go straight to the box office at the venue to get ’em.
• Retail Outlet Pickup is available for US events only.

• The fan who buys the tickets is the only one who can pick them up.

With NFL season heating up, nothing can throw cold water on your live football experience like getting turned away on game day because of a counterfeit ticket. This will ensure that your tickets are authentic, as barcodes are validated to give you guaranteed access into the game.

2. Game sold out? Check back often with Ticketmaster, the NFL Ticket Exchange, or your team’s Ticket Office as new ticket inventory may become available.

3. If you choose to purchase tickets from third party online exchanges, auction sites, bulletin boards, or individuals, be wary of sellers asking for payment via a cashier’s check or money wires — these payment methods are a favorite among scammers.

4. If you look for tickets online, only use websites you know you can trust. Some nefarious brokers create websites to look like the box office, and the URL can be so similar to the official sites that they make you feel like you’re purchasing directly from the source.

5. No matter how excited you are about the game, do NOT post photos of your tickets on social media sites. This is the perfect way for nefarious brokers to rip them right off of you.

1 in 5 Americans experiences ticket fraud when buying from unofficial sources, according to a third-party study commissioned by Ticketmaster in December 2016.

So to help educate fans about buying verified tickets, we spoke with some real NFL fans who bought fake tickets from unofficial sources to learn more about their stories.

Meet Dan and Eian.

These twin brothers grew up as lifelong, die-hard football fans. When the stars aligned to see a game for their birthday, Eian surprised Dan with tickets. Even more special, this was going to be their first time seeing a game live together.

Unfortunately, Eian didn’t buy his tickets from an official source like Ticketmaster or the NFL Ticket Exchange.

Come game day, the attendant at the gate told them the tickets weren’t scanning because they were fraudulent.

Real fans + fake tickets = heartbreak.

The two brothers were devastated and couldn’t even bring themselves to listen to the game on the radio during their 4.5 hour drive home.

Because they didn’t want any other fans to have this same experience, they flew to LA to share their story about the importance of buying tickets safely.

About halfway through the taping, they were given a letter from Ticketmaster that contained the best surprise of all…a pair of 100% verified tickets to Super Bowl LI, courtesy of Ticketmaster and the NFL Ticket Exchange.

Meet Justin.

Justin had never been to a live NFL game.

To celebrate a birthday, his group of friends decided to buy tickets for a regular season game. The group opted to pair off buying tickets based on what they could find through unofficial resale sites instead of Ticketmaster or the NFL Ticket Exchange.

But when it came time to use the tickets, the stadium attendant told Justin that his tickets weren’t good.

A: The Presale begins Monday, March 13 at 10AM (local time). It’s a simple, standard purchase process and the following steps will help you navigate your search and purchase.

1. Monday morning you’ll receive your unique offer code via text message.
Keep your phone handy – you’ll receive text messages 2-4 hours before the Presale. The first message(s) will include timing details and a link to where you can purchase your tickets, immediately followed by another text containing your unique offer code. The #VerifiedFan Presale begins Monday, March 13 at 10AM (local time, based on venue).

2. Copy Your Unique Offer Code
Have your code on hand and/or ready to copy and paste.

When the Presale Begins at 10AM (local time)
3. Click the link you were sent at the appropriate time

Contrary to popular belief, going to a concert alone can be a rewarding experience. In fact, in many ways, it’s better to go it alone than to attend with friends.

Use these simple tips (illustrated with GIFs from our favorite comedy TV shows) and you’ll be sure to have a great time flying solo at your next concert.

Tip #1: Don’t Over Think It

When you arrive at the concert, and you’re standing around by yourself, it’s only natural to feel out of place. But as Patrick McNamara of Vice puts it, “nobody cares”. In fact, most people won’t even notice you’re by yourself. They’re paying attention to the music, not to you. So get over it and enjoy the show.

Tip #2: Stay On The Move

If you’re unable to get over the fact that you’re alone, a simple solution is to keep moving. Assuming your concert doesn’t have assigned seating, staying on the go is easy. And if someone is actually paying attention to you (which they’re most certainly not) they won’t have time to establish that you’re by yourself.

Tip #3: Use It As An Excuse To Socialize

So you couldn’t get any friends to go to the concert with you. Sounds like your friends are lame. Just kidding! Luckily, the concert is a great way to meet new people. And since everyone there is probably interested in the same band or from the local area, you already have something to talk about and break the ice with.

If you’re really that embarrassed about attending alone, and someone actually asks you about it, just lie. “I’m covering the show for (insert local music blog here)” or “My girlfriend had to cancel at the last minute because she had a photo shoot in Paris… you know because she’s a super model” are both popular options, but feel free to get creative. Most likely you won’t need to come up with any excuses, but just having one prepared in your head might help make you feel more confident in the crowd.

It’s important to note that all of the previous tips are predicated on the simple truth that live music brings people together, and you belong here just as much as anyone else. So go for it. Go to the show, start a conversation, and jam out to your favorite song without any distractions. And don’t go staring at your phone’s screen the entire time because you’re nervous.
